Talk Description:

Signaling of GPCRs us conventionally monitored by studying their effects on 2nd messenger production or on other downstream effects. Here I will discuss alternative approaches that rely on fluorescence microscopy. These approaches use either fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET) or single molecule microscopy. Their goal is to image, when and where in a cell (or an intact organ or even organism) activation of GPCRs and downstream signaling steps occur.
