Biographical Sketch:
Dr. Anderson is a physician-scientist with a research program that is focused on autoimmune diseases and the control of immune tolerance. His laboratory has helped define the Autoimmune Regulator (Aire) gene as a critical factor in the maintenance of immune tolerance both in the thymus and in peripheral lymphoid organs. Dr. Anderson also is a practicing endocrinologist and has developed a research program directed at the study of type 1 diabetes, particularly its pathogenesis and treatment
