Thyroid hormone plays an essential role in development. A range of models will be discussed to demonstrate thyroid hormone and co-factor actions in brain, sensory, and intestinal development. The relative role of thyroid hormone  transporters, thyroid hormone receptors, and thyroid hormone metabolizing enzymes, will be described.
